OnPace Privacy Policy
Effective November 1, 2026
OnPace is a budget app for Android, published by OnPaceBudget. It logs your card charges by reading the notifications your card app sends. This policy explains what OnPace reads, what it saves, and what can leave your phone.
In short: OnPace has no account and no server, and it has no ads or analytics. Your budget stays on your phone. We never receive your budget, your charges, or your notifications. Logo lookups and phone backups can send some information to Google, as explained below.
Notification access
OnPace only works if you turn on Android's notification access for it. With that access on, Android gives OnPace every notification your phone receives, and OnPace treats them in two ways:
- Apps you choose to watch, such as your card app: OnPace reads these notifications to find charges, and saves the results on your phone.
- All other apps: notifications can include private content, such as messages. So that you can pick your card app from a list, OnPace holds the app name, title and text of up to 200 recent notifications in temporary memory. These are never saved, and they clear when your phone restarts or the app updates. To stop this, turn it off on the All Notifications page in OnPace, which also clears the list.
You can remove notification access at any time in your phone's settings. OnPace then stops logging charges.
What OnPace saves on your phone
- Your starting balance, budget period and budget history
- Your charges: merchant, amount, tip and time
- Your merchants, merchant types and recurring charges
- The apps you watch and any notification wording you teach OnPace
- The title and text of the last 30 notifications from the apps you watch, whether or not they were charges
- Identifiers for notifications from those apps that OnPace has already handled, so that a charge isn't counted twice
- Your settings, such as your theme, and merchant logos that have already been downloaded
This data is kept in OnPace's private storage on your phone until you change or delete it, or uninstall the app. OnPace doesn't ask for your card number or bank login, and it doesn't connect to your bank.
What can leave your phone
Merchant logos. To show a merchant's logo, OnPace guesses the merchant's website address from its name and asks Google's website icon service for that site's icon. For a merchant named Whataburger, for example, it may ask for the icon of whataburger.com. It may try more than one guess. Google receives the address being looked up, along with the information any web request includes, such as your IP address. That could show Google which merchants you use. Your amounts, balance and notification text are not sent. Google handles these requests under its privacy policy. To avoid a lookup for a merchant, give that merchant a type other than Merchant, so that OnPace shows the type's built-in icon instead.
Phone backups. If your phone backs up apps to Google, or you move to a new phone, that backup or transfer may include your OnPace data. You control this in your phone's settings, and Google's terms cover those backups.
Google Play. If you get OnPace from Google Play, Google may collect information about the install and about crashes, and may show developers summary statistics. OnPace itself doesn't add any analytics.
Emails to support. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use them to reply to you. Our mail is delivered through Cloudflare and Google's Gmail service. Please don't send card numbers or other sensitive details.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data or share it for advertising.
- We don't show ads or track you across apps or websites.
- We don't require an account.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling OnPace deletes its data from your phone. You can also clear the data without uninstalling: open your phone's App Info page for OnPace, choose Storage, then Clear Data. We can't delete it for you, because we never receive it. A copy in a Google backup follows your Google backup settings. To have your support emails deleted, write to us at the address below.
Security
Android keeps OnPace's storage private from other apps, and logo requests use an encrypted connection. Anyone who can unlock your phone can open OnPace, so we recommend using a screen lock.
Changes to this policy
If OnPace's handling of data changes, we'll update this page and its effective date.
